FMCG Exporters: Going Beyond Our Comparative Advantage

Australia’s export market is strong, contributing significantly to our wider economy; however, these exports are predominantly made up of resources and minerals. When it comes to value-added goods, such as FMCG, the export market is best described as underdeveloped.

For FMCG manufacturers, our reputation for producing premium food and beverage products, combined with a comparative advantage compared to our international competitors and recent government incentives, presents a seemingly strong export opportunity. However, very few of our FMCG manufacturers are exploring this opportunity available to export goods.
